Essay on Topic #2
Yes, it's been only a few months, but I now plan to give some of my thoughts on the topic I listed as #2 -- that those who prefer to speak academically and/or intellectually are discriminated against in most conversations. But first I will lament my lack of cooking skills.

So [info]queserasarah taught me how to make omlettes, but other than that I cannot cook. I "helped" my best friend to cook some dishes last summer, meaning I did exactly as she told me without having to think for myself and, therefore, cannot remember anything now. I thought perhaps the problem was that I needed a recipe. So I went into the main house and took a look at Dr. Webb's cookbooks. I'm now terrified. One would need a degree in cooking just to read these things. (Is there a Cooking for Dummies, do you think?) They don't tell one how to make a meal. They tell one how to roast a whole chicken or how to make pie crust. I need a basic "here's how to make a meal without specialist equipment or practical knowledge" book. Or I could continue buying ready-made meals or "add one cup water" dishes.
