Enutulien; I have returned After studying in Scotland and returning to the States and Meredith College and business as usual, I feel that nothing I have to report is very interesting. But I've been asked to update so friends can keep up with me.
I spent the Christmas holidays at my sister and brother-in-law's house with my new nephew Timothy Hale Anderson and at my Aunt Ruthanne and Uncle Bubba's house. My grandparents were staying with my aunt and uncle too. Add me and my two little cousins, and it was a full house indeed.
While I was home I also got to see my friends Jessie, Ryan, Nick, Chris, and Justin on New Year's Eve. We set off fireworks and played LOTR trivial pursuit (which I won). I also got to spend two days with Marjorie. We saw LOTR:ROTK and Peter Pan in the theater. I loved ROTK. I liked Peter Pan a lot, especially the second time (with my aunt, uncle, and cousins) when I was more ready for the changes they made to the story from the book. It is the most faithful to the book of any movie version. It kept the dark stuff -- the killing and the sadness that isn't in the sanitized Disney version.
The most exciting thing of that happened before returning to Meredith is that I learned my best friend Marjorie is engaged. It was unofficial when she told me, so I wasn't able to tell my family. And I was bursting! She should be so proud of me that I held out. I am to be maid of honor. Marjorie and her mother (the only other besides her fiance and myself who knew) took me to Houston, where I was to stay with my aunt Karen before my flight to Raleigh. I told my mom we were going "shopping" beforehand. We were shopping for Marjorie's gown and the bridesmaids' gowns. Seeing Marjorie in a wedding gown was incredible. She is beautiful.
I visited with my aunt and uncle, and my sister Rachel and brother-in-law Michael in Houston. Then I caught my plane to Raleigh. I realized, on my way down the hall to Sarah's room, that I should have let her know when I was returning. She had asked me to room with her this semester, so I've been moving my stuff up from downstairs. I'm not quite done yet.
I've had my first day of classes. It went smoothly. I'm still waiting to find out who will be my thesis advisor, most likely Dr. Webb, or maybe Dr. Grathwohl (but she's so busy). It's nice to have only one class on Fridays.
